The November meeting will be on Dorothy Sayer's "The Man Born to be King." (November 11th at 7:30 p.m.) and in December we'll be reading George Macdonald's "Phantastes." (It would have been December 9th at 7:30 p.m. but Barnes and Noble is having a Bookfair that evening which usually makes having the meeting pretty impossible so we need to discuss alternatives)
One Possibility: Combination Christmas Party and Meeting at our house on December 9th!!
At the November meeting we'll be considering the reading schedule for next year so please come and participate.
How about some books of criticism on C.S. Lewis? Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteLewis's space trilogy: would love to re-visit this.
ReplyDeleteDorothy Sayers: Are Women Human?
Chesterton: The Man Who was Thursday
couple of light weight but fun reads: The Chronicles of Narnia and Philosophy and The Lord of the Rings and Philosophy. Peggy
What books of criticism did you have in mind Elizabeth? I have some we could look at in December.
ReplyDelete@Peggy ... some more great suggestions.
I think these are both great ideas. We need to mix it up and I think be sensitive to how long and difficult the books are that we pick. Some books are just too challenging to be read in a month. I'd love to have some discussions on specific readings like sermons or particularly insightful essays.
